Roles & Responsibilities
- Sound knowledge of ASTM standard methods for water cut analysis, API gravity analysis, gas gravity analysis, salinity analysis, pH, and H2S metering.
- Strong understanding of the development and implementation of safe operating procedures
Basic Knowledge of Oil & Gas Operations
- Identification and mitigation of risks and hazardous situations.
- Collection and organization of well data; planning and execution of well testing operations; monitoring well performance in low/high pressure, onshore/offshore, sweet/sour gas, and oil & gas wells.
- Development and implementation of safety check procedures for well connections, well test equipment (including separator, oil storage, and flare arrangements).
- Hands-on experience in well testing, separator operations, allied equipment handling, and control systems.
- Execution of periodic test programs and monitoring of well performance across varying operating conditions.
- Practical field experience in operating independently at site, including rig-up/rig-down, troubleshooting, and preparing well testing reports. Must have managed complete site operations independently.
- Capability to test well production in the range of 100–5,000 bbl/d with BS&W range of 0–100% and API gravity range of 15–45 on mobile production separators.
- Strong operational and maintenance skills in handling:- Flow head, choke manifold (5K & 10K)- 3-phase horizontal separator
– Sand traps and sand filters
– SSV (Surface Safety Valve)
– Indirect heaters
– ESD (Emergency Shutdown System)
– Artificial lift systems (ESP, sucker rod pumps, progressive cavity pumps)
– Gas compressors (for low gas-producing wells)
– Transfer pumps, surge tanks, and gauge tanks. - Proficient in operation and complete calibration of the following equipment:- Dead weight tester- Orifice meter (Daniel)
– Pressure controllers and test pumps
– Level controllers and actuators (pressure/level)
– Safety relief valves
– Flow computers
– Differential chart recorders (Barton)
– Oil & gas flow meters
– Chemical injection systems. - Execution of daily and weekly tasks, including charging and depressurizing mobile pressure vessels.
- Experience in oil & gas testing of HPHT wells, including bean tests.
- Observation and interpretation of well flow behavior, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Classification of hazardous zones and ensuring safe working conditions.
- Management and emergency response planning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar position, or 6 years as an operator with at least 1 year as Senior Operator.
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering.
- 7–8 years of oil field experience.
- Identification of HSE training needs and practical experience in ensuring HSE compliance.
- Professional behavior with colleagues, supervisors, subordinates, and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and work effectively with a multi-cultural workforce.
