Technical Knowledge & Operations:
- Basic knowledge of clay and colloidal chemistry.
- Understanding of data acquisition and preparation of GTO (Geological & Technical Overview).
- Familiarity with mud systems: type, function, composition, and properties.
- Knowledge of various chemicals in mud and their roles.
- Working experience with WBM & OBM mud systems.
- Basic understanding of completion fluids.
- Experience with exploratory, development, vertical, high-angle, horizontal, and multilateral wells.
- Ability to identify complications and perform hydraulic calculations.
- Knowledge and handling of solids control equipment.
- Basic understanding of drill strings, tubulars, casing, cementation, logging, perforation, and cased hole operations.
- Conceptual knowledge of NDDF in paying zones, drill waste management, and clean brine operations.
- Preparation and execution of mud programs.
- Inventory management of mud materials and chemicals.
Critical Skills:
- Operational and calibration skills of all rig-site lab equipment.
- Use of PPE and experience working in H₂S environments.
- Knowledge of MSDS for all chemicals.
- Cost, quality, and time management.
- Ability to supervise, perform, and monitor drilling operations, including managing complications such as mud loss, torque, drag, stuck pipe, and kicks.
- Ability to handle challenging assignments and propose solutions to the company man.
- Inventory control, budgeting, cost optimization, and contract management.
Experience Requirements:
- Level I: Minimum 3 years’ experience in mud engineering, total 5 years oilfield experience.
- Level II: Minimum 5 years’ experience, total 8 years oilfield experience, graduate in science with chemistry/chemical engineering/petroleum engineering.
- Level III: Minimum 7 years’ experience, total 10 years oilfield experience, master’s in chemistry or graduate in chemical/petroleum engineering.
Performance Evaluation:

- Proficiency in DFS (Drilling Fluid Software) to prepare DMR reports.
